Combined Fauna & Venomous Snake Handling Training Course
For those time poor seeking a single day course that covers content from both our Snake and Fauna Handling Courses
January 26, 2025
So here we are mid-summer, our team are still out and about delivering Animal Ark’s Snake Avoidance training for dogs around Perth and southwest WA, so book soon if you need a refresher – see snakeavoidance.com.au
Our Bait Aversion program, a new separate company, is also (gaining traction) as they say, and dates and locations can be found at baitaversion.com.au
Death or sickness from various baits is common, and horrific, so we hope this training program will protect many dogs from the fate and/or expense associated with them.
Here is some interesting artwork relating to snakes. I personally thought it was a very novel and a different way of looking at our local species.
The artist Forrest He is not employed by us, but he is a friend of our latest casual recruit Eva, a bug, reptile and dog enthusiast.
Eva is currently studying fine art at UWA but is also busy working for us, assisting on snake handling and dog related training courses.
If you like the snaky artwork and wish to support the artist by buying a copy, please contact Forrest direct on forrest01.he@gmail.com or visit his Facebook here
Feeding wildlife is often a controversial issue in Australia… and feeding any wildlife incorrectly, or processed foods, can lead to sickness and disability.
We get plenty of bobtails around our garden and they seem particularly keen on tomatoes and peas. A bowl of water can help any wildlife through the heat of summer!
TAWNY FROGMOUTH Podargus strigoides
Tawnys are odd birds, not uncommon, but as they are nocturnal and well camouflaged, they are never seen flying around in the daytime and are hard to spot.
Apart from camouflage their main defence mechanism seems to involve extreme inaction or indifference to investigation from a would-be predator, neither provoking nor reacting in any marked way.
As pest control for us humans they are second to none, eating a wide variety of bugs such as spiders, beetles, snails, slugs, centipedes, moths and small vertebrates such as frogs, lizards, small snakes and mice.
They catch food on the wing as well as from the ground and other surfaces. Tawnys are notoriously difficult to sex. Despite being quite common they are poorly studied, and much is still to be learned about these strange but exceptional birds.
We train all year around!!!
We continually add to our online list of dates and locations, including throughout the winter months.
You can see upcoming dates and locations here
We at Animal Ark have launched Bait Aversion Training for Dogs
The same team from Animal Ark now delivering Bait Aversion!!!
Bait Aversion, run by Animal Ark, can now teach your dog to leave toxic baits alone. After consultation with post-doctoral researchers, government organisations, and encouragement from individuals with first-hand experience of dog deaths from toxic baits, we are now up and running!
Focus is on Probait as a commonly and widely used 1080 bait, and FOXOFF, also a 1080 bait from Animal Control Technologies (Australia) (ACTA) manufacturers.
