Combined Fauna & Snake Handling Courses


This combined course covers all the essentials of the single day Snake handling and Fauna handling courses, but over a more intense and longer day. Ideal for the time poor and those on restrictive rosters! Just as much hands on time with mammals and reptiles as normal. Lower numbers help facilitate a thoroughly immersive and enjoyable experience. A very popular option with many of our clients.

Education and personal empowerment – it is education and training – but we have some fun too. Successful completion of the course is certified. Each State and Territory has different regulations regarding reptile and other wildlife management.
Animal Ark Pty Ltd are licensed providers of wildlife education and training by DBCA Parks and Wildlife Service. Director and Founder of Animal Ark David Manning is an author of multiple reptile care books and has worked with many different snake species from across the world for over 40 years.
In 2012 David Manning was awarded a prestigious Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowship – expanding his knowledge to enhance and improve training methodologies and equipment used in Australia.

- Fear factor – a natural human response
- Reptile behaviour and understanding snakes
- Fauna identification, capture and handling methods.
- Traps, tools and equipment for safe practice.
- Site awareness and invasion prevention
- Identification of tracks, scats, burrows and nests of conservation significant species.
- Familiarity with the ecology of the species that may be encountered for appropriate translocation when necessary.
- Assessing injured fauna for suitability for release, rehabilitation or euthanasia.
- Legal / moral responsibilities
- Utilizing protective clothing and equipment
- Appropriate first aid for bites and stings
- Snake catch and release in practice with live venomous snakes in strictly supervised setting
- Hands on experience with live native fauna in controlled environment under supervision of experienced, licensed trainers.
- Performing euthanasia.
- Suits environmental staff, trench-clearing projects, wildlife relocations.

Licensed Providers
Each State and Territory has different regulations regarding reptile management. Animal Ark are licensed providers of wildlife education and training in Western Australia and are recognised in Queensland, South Australia and Northern Territory. For up to date licensing requirements please contact your local wildlife department. Most companies require training to show competency for Occupational Health and Safety requirements when applying for licences related to a project. Do check with DBCA Parks and Wildlife Service or your local licensing department for details specific to your project or region.




Fees & Course Dates
$880 + gst per person ($968 inc gst), lunch, included at our location. Student discount available.
Perth scheduled courses run from Perth Hills, 10mins from Midland, 20mins from airport, 30mins from Perth CBD. For group bookings (minimum 4) we can schedule new dates to suit.
